How to Set Up TikTok Business Center Access for Your Agency

Step-by-step guide to granting your marketing agency access to your TikTok Business Center. Learn the manual process and discover how Portaal automates it.

Why Your Agency Needs TikTok Business Center Access

TikTok has become a powerhouse advertising platform, and agencies managing TikTok campaigns need proper access to your Business Center. The Business Center is TikTok's equivalent of Meta Business ManagerTikTok has become a powerhouse advertising platform, and agencies managing TikTok campaigns need proper access to your Business Center. The Business Center is TikTok's equivalent of Meta Business Manager — it is the central hub where you manage ad accounts, pixels, and team permissions.

Granting access through the Business Center keeps your account secure. Your agency never sees your login credentials, and you maintain full control over what they can do. You can revoke access at any time with a few clicks.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A TikTok Business Center account
  • Admin access to the Business Center
  • Your agency's TikTok Business Center ID (they should provide this)
  • At least one ad account created under your Business Center

If you do not have a Business Center yet, go to business.tiktok.com and create one. You will need a TikTok account to get started.

Step-by-Step: Granting Agency Access via TikTok Business Center

Step 1: Log Into Your Business Center

  1. Go to business.tiktok.com
  2. Sign in with your TikTok credentials
  3. Select the Business Center you want to share (if you have multiple)

Step 2: Navigate to Partner Management

  1. In the left sidebar, click Settings (the gear icon)
  2. Under the "Members and Partners" section, click Partners
  3. You will see any existing partner relationships listed here

Step 3: Add Your Agency as a Partner

  1. Click the Add Partner button in the top-right corner
  2. Enter your agency's Business Center ID
  3. Click Next to proceed to asset assignment

Step 4: Assign Assets and Permissions

This is the most important step. You need to assign the right assets with the right permission levels.

Ad Accounts:

  1. Select the ad account(s) you want to share
  2. Choose the permission level:
  • Analyst: View-only access to campaigns and reports
  • Operator: Can create and manage campaigns, audiences, and creatives
  • Admin: Full control including billing and user management
  1. For most agency relationships, Operator access is the right choice

Pixels (Events):

  1. If your agency will manage conversion tracking, assign your TikTok Pixel
  2. Grant Operator access so they can configure events and parameters

Creative Assets:

  1. Optionally share your creative library
  2. This lets the agency use your approved brand assets in campaigns

Step 5: Review and Confirm

  1. Double-check all assigned assets and permission levels
  2. Click Send Invitation
  3. Your agency receives a notification in their Business Center
  4. Once they accept, access is active immediately

Step 6: Verify the Connection

  1. Go back to Settings > Partners
  2. Your agency should appear with a "Connected" status
  3. Click on the partner to review or modify permissions at any time

Common Issues and Troubleshooting

"I cannot find the Partners section" — You need Admin access to the Business Center. If you are a Member, ask the Business Center Admin to grant you Admin privileges or to add the partner themselves.

"My agency says they did not receive the invitation" — Verify you entered the correct Business Center ID. IDs are numeric and typically 7-10 digits long. Ask your agency to check their ID at Settings > Business Center Info.

"I want to share a specific catalog but do not see the option" — Catalogs must be created under your Business Center first. Go to Assets > Catalogs to create or claim one before assigning it to a partner.

"The ad account is grayed out" — The ad account may already be assigned to another partner at the same permission level. TikTok limits certain permission combinations. Contact your agency to confirm their requirements.

"I need to remove access later" — Go to Settings > Partners, click on the agency, and click Remove Partner. All access is revoked immediately. Any campaigns they created will remain in your ad account.

The Manual Process Is Tedious -- There Is a Better Way

Walking through these steps takes 15-20 minutes per client, and that is assuming the client knows where to find their Business Center settings. In practice, agencies spend 30+ minutes on phone calls and screen-shares guiding clients through the process.

Multiply that by every new client, every month, and the time adds up fast. And TikTok is just one platformMultiply that by every new client, every month, and the time adds up fast. And TikTok is just one platform — most agencies also need access to Meta, Google Ads, Google Analytics, LinkedIn, and more.

Automate TikTok Access With Portaal

Portaal eliminates the manual process entirely. Instead of explaining the 6-step process above to every client, you send them a single onboarding link. The client clicks it, authenticates with TikTok, and the correct permissions are granted automatically.

How it works:

  1. Create an onboarding link in your Portaal dashboard — select TikTok and any other platforms you need
  2. Send the link to your client
  3. The client clicks the link, logs into TikTok, and approves access
  4. Portaal configures the partner relationship with the correct permissions
  5. You get notified the moment access is granted

Why agencies prefer Portaal for TikTok onboarding:

  • No Business Center IDs to exchange
  • No manual asset assignment or permission selection
  • Clients do not need to navigate unfamiliar settings
